Those of us in the freight shipping industry have known for quite some time that fuel prices and a shortage of trucks have kept shipping rates unusually high. This has certainly not been easy on shippers and receivers in all industries across the board. It makes no difference if you ship roofing materials, tiles or tires you will be paying more for freight shipping. Higher rates are here to stay. Truckers will be sticking to their guns when it comes to rates and the rates are surely to stay high far past the seasonal produce shipments that affect Florida, Texas, California and the Pacific Northwest every year. Produce shipments will take an already crippled spot market capacity and deliver a knockout to shippers everywhere. I guess all I can say is hang on its going to be a bumpy ride.
